If you are traveling on I 465 on the south side, exit onto East Street (going south); after exiting, get in the left lane, preparing for a left turn and continue to first stop light, which is Thompson Road and turn left. Continue east to Madison Street, turn right on Madison and continue to Epler Avenue and turn left. Continue a few blocks further, and the church will be on your left. Map to church is on our website. Circle City Carvers 2005 Woodcarving Show & Sale Rules & Regulations 1. This is an open show and anyone is eligible to enter with entry fee and table fee. Table Fee is $20.00 per table for Exhibitors (2-table limit). Vendor fee is $40.00 per table with a 2-table limit. Competition Entry Fee is $3.00 for each entry. For every 5 paid entries, you get one free entry. The categories of competition are listed in this packet. Unlimited entries may be entered in each category. Each entry must be the personal work of the exhibitor, must have been completed within the previous 24 months, and may not have won a blue ribbon in one of our previous shows to be eligible for competition. Carvings made in formal classes or under the guidance of an instructor are not eligible to be entered in the competition. The Show Officials have the final decision on placement of carvings into categories. The Show Officials have the right to refuse any carving they believe to be in poor taste or for other just cause. Pieces made from roughouts are accepted. Entries into the Miscellaneous category are limited to those carvings which would not be appropriate in any of the other categories. 2. Payment must accompany all applications. 3. Because of our limited table space, applications for tables are limited to 2 tables per exhibitor and vendor, and are accepted on the basis of availability when received. 4. Applications for a table will be put on a waiting list when all tables have been rented pending cancellations or changes up to the week before the show. If we are unable to accommodate you, a full refund will be sent one week prior to the show. Refunds for cancellations will be made until September 1. 5. Tables must present a pleasing appearance. Tables are 8 ft. long and 30 inches wide and must be covered on the top and draped to the floor on front and sides. This cover must be supplied by the exhibitor and suitable for this purpose. No wrinkled sheets, please. Each table fee will include 2 chairs, if needed, but feel free to bring your own. 6. Set up time will be Friday evening 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. or Saturday morning from 7:30 until 9:00. The show begins at 9:00 a.m. Carvings for the competition must be in place by 9:00 when the show opens. There is very limited electrical outlet availability for low-power lights and will be in a first-come-first-serve basis at the rate of $2.00 each. 7. All carvers must keep their table and exhibits in tact until the end of the show at 4:00 p.m. 8. No ribbons may be displayed except for the ribbons won at this show. 9. The Circle City Carving Club and the Edgewood United Methodist Church will not be responsible for any loss or damage. Exhibitors are responsible for their carvings. 10. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the premises. 11. Overnight parking is not permitted in the church parking lot. 12. Limit of 2 exhibitors per table. 13. Exhibitors are responsible for collection of Indiana sales tax. 14. Exhibitors are responsible for clean up of their area. Carving during the show is encouraged, but floor coverings to catch chips must be used. 15. There will be a food stand staffed by the youth of the church. JUDGING AND PRIZES The public will do all judging except for Carver's Choice. Each ticket purchaser will receive a ballot for voting which will need to be turned in by 3:00 p.m. Those votes will determine the 1st Place People's Choice and 2nd Place People's Choice and first, second, and third place ribbons for each category. Each exhibitor and spouse will be given ballots, and those votes will determine the Carver's Choice Award. Relief Carving carvings of any subject done on a flat surface to give illusion of depth. 2. Chip Carving any item with chip carving on it. 3. Human Caricature carvings of a human figure in exaggerated or comical form. 4. Animal Caricature carvings of an animal or bird figure in exaggerated or comical form. 5. Realistic Human carving of a human figure in realistic proportions. Human busts are included in this category. 6. Realistic Animal definition same as for human. Includes all (except birds). 7. Realistic Bird includes all types of birds except birds of prey. Includes water fowl, song birds, and game birds. Caricature birds will be put in Animal Caricature category. 8. Bird of Prey birds of prey. 9. Miniature Carving woodcarving must fit inside 2" cube. 10. Circus and Carousel Carving any carving having to do with a circus, clown, carousel or carousel animal. 11. Stylized Carving any carving done in free art form, including birds, animal or human figures. 12. Christmas Carving anything carved with a Christmas motif. 13. Fish and Aquatic any carving of aquatic species. 14. Bark Carving any carving done on bark. 15. Mythological dragons, trolls, gnomes, etc. 16. Group Carving any carving with 2 or more dominant subjects. 17. Woodburning (pyrography) all finishes, includes nature scenes, scenery, human and historical figures, signs, decorative, etc. 18.
